Let Go And Let God

The last few weeks I’ve been in a bit of a haze. Between work and all the family stuff, let’s just say it’s been really hard to see the forest for the trees. I’ve been stressed, not just about this deployment and how it’s affecting all of us, but some other life stuff entirely. Not to go into too much detail…but it involves how other people’s decisions will directly impact me. Yet, I have not control over the choices that are being made.

But, after a call with my aunt, I had an ah-ha moment. “It’s not your journey,” she said.

You can’t let someone else’s choices dictate how you feel. You may not agree with them. You may be 100% right, you may even have to deal with the aftermath, but it doesn’t matter. It isn’t your journey, they aren’t your decisions to make – they’re theirs. There comes a point where letting go is absolutely necessary. This is a repeated theme in my life right now. The universe is repeatedly trying to tell me something.

I always thought the saying “what will be, will be” was a bit of a cop out. It’s about making things happen, not kicking back and just seeing what happens. But, perhaps it’s not so black and white. Sometimes, there simply isn’t anything else you can do but just let go, and let God or the universe or whoever you believe in run the show.

Auntie’s words sunk deep into my soul. People make decisions based on a variety of reasons: fear, comfort, stubbornness, ease… the list goes on and on.

But, what it comes down to is this: you can only control you. Your decisions in life, in business, in love – they are yours and yours alone. Don’t worry so much about what other’s are doing. Simply do you.

As I sat on my couch thinking about this and all the craziness of my life right now, it dawned on me… this is why I love all this energy work. It's all about helping others have these same realizations. It's about letting go of that which does not serve us, and focusing on that which fills us up.
